Client's Brief
The design concept for the spa on Queen Victoria continues the traditions of Cunards sophisticated and stylish interiors, with a touch of Art Nouveau elegance. The facility creates a warm and welcoming environment designed to appeal to the refined tastes of Cunards clientele. The spa & fitness facility provides a comprehensive range of therapy areas in beautiful serene therapy rooms, the majority of which have ocean views. These rooms have been applauded for the design consideration given to the operational simplicity and storage capacity.
Approach To Design
Although this area of the vessel has an awkward footprint, the planning arrangements allow for the fitness guests to be separated from the tranquility of the spa treatment area.
The general movement throughout the spa has been kept simple for ease of control and guest movement, taking advantage where possible of the dramatic ocean views enjoyed by the entire facility. With its own reception area and boutique the spa also has a meeting room for
lifestyle lectures. The changing rooms have individual sauna and steam facilities which compliment the mixed gender thermal suite with its heated loungers and three thermal cabins. There is also a full hydrotherapy pool with free loungers to relax around the edges. All these facilities provide a valuable pre-treatment in support of one of the eleven therapy rooms, which include three thalassotherapy rooms and two deluxe suites.
For those guests wishing to spend a little longer relaxing, a couples area is provided on the deck above connected to the main treatment area via a small but elegant stairway. This area has flexibility designed in, to provide various combinations of wet and dry therapies and is combined with a Rasul bathing suite. The treatment areas are supported by the extensive Hair & Beauty Salon with gender focused barber facilities and a full fitness center with a separate aerobic studio.
The spa on Queen Victoria presents a full facility worthy of the heritage of the vessel and owner.
