Stephenjohn Design are currently undertaking a full review of all aspects of our impact on the environment. The intention is to create a comprehensive policy to form part of our five-year plan, which will address two different impacts of the business; day-to-day operation and project design.
Day to day operation - Stephenjohn design will in the first instance identify an operational carbon footprint. We will then aim to establish realistic targets for reduction in line with government targets. This will include a review of all business travel and revised internal recycling policies. At this time Stephenjohn Design see no benefit in carbon offsetting.
Project Design - Stephenjohn Design has already been involved in a number of spa and hotel projects that have a strong environmental policy. It is essential within the construction industry that consultants address every aspect specification in order to reduce the carbon footprint of the finished project. Implementation of renewable energy sources have been blighted by high installation costs often having a high impact on strict budgetary controls. These costs are now coming down and coupled with proposed new tax breaks makes the use of renewable energy sources more financial viable.
We recognise the need for positive action in the environment. This intention is to create a policy, which will grow and develop into a long-term strategy.
